New York City, June 27, 2020 — Acclaimed actor, star of the ballroom runways and longtime trans activist Marquise Vilson Balenciaga will co-host the Queer Liberation March for Black Lives and Against Police Brutality’s livestream broadcast on Sunday, June 28, 12:45pm-4pm (live at reclaimpridenyc.org and on Facebook, Twitter/Periscope and YouTube).

“We’re excited that Marquise, star of the brilliant new documentary ‘Disclosure,’  will co-host our livestream on Sunday with legendary poet and performer Pamela Sneed,” said March co-organizer Jon Carter. “Our March through the streets of New York City and our worldwide livestream will bring the fight for racial justice, economic empowerment and an end to police brutality to the world. Marquise and Pamela are powerful voices to embody that message.”

Marquise is well-known to audiences for his roles in the movie “The Kitchen,” and TV series such as “Law & Order: SVU,” “Tales of the City,” and “The Blacklist.” He has continually broken new ground in the industry as a Black trans man. Marquise is also a longtime star in the ballroom community and a veteran HIV activist.

Reclaim Pride is also thrilled and honored to be invited to host our livestream of the Queer Liberation March for Black Lives and Against Police Brutality from inside the historic Stonewall Inn in New York City. We appreciate the generosity of Stonewall and its longstanding support of the LGBTQ+ communities.

Reclaim Pride Coalition (RPC) is a New York City-based group comprised of LGBTQ+ activists in alliance with dozens of grassroots community groups, nationally and internationally. In June 2019, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, RPC mobilized more than 45,000 people to recreate the original 1970 Gay Pride march route uptown from Stonewall to Central Park. This March, the Queer Liberation March, was a people’s protest march without corporate funding, corporate floats, or a police contingent.
